Alma and Bobby photo shoot

I wanted this to be extra special since it is my very first blog post - and photographing expectant, first time mom Alma along with her husband Bobby four days before the baby’s due date was just that - special, magical and extraordinary.  We spent a lovely afternoon together, and had such a wonderful photo shoot.

Several weeks prior to our photo session Alma and I became acquainted at kundalini yoga which is an integral part of both of our lives.
So, it was only fitting that we began the photo session with a beautiful meditation.  This calmed and relaxed Alma, and centered our energy on her precious little girl.

For the first set-up, Alma had selected a beautiful silk robe to wear, and I knew it would photograph perfectly in front of the romantic window in my studio.  I was so pleased with the lighting and the moment... Alma was really in tune with her little nugget and even felt her doing a few cartwheels from time to time.  It was so great  that everyone was joyful and participating!   To our delight, Bobby jumped in and joined the second shot.  This was really a sweet moment as I could feel the true love and synchronicity between this happy couple.

We then moved outside to photograph Alma with her adorable dog, Roscoe.
I love all animals and especially dogs so this was a real treat for me.  My new blue wall and super cool artsy fence (more on that fence later...) works perfectly in this shot - and even better when Bobby joined our next photo.  These are some of my favorites of the whole day... Very romantic, loving moments....

We ended the day photographing radiant Alma in front of an original piece of art by my dear friend and mentor, Gino Hollander.  Gino is a fantastic artist who lives in Ojai, CA.  He paints these amazing masterpieces called “Universes”.  On this day, I was inspired to use this particular canvas as a photography background for the very first time.  Alma, Bobby and I all loved the result, and I believe that Gino will be very pleased with my use of his special universe.

As I was cleaning up the studio, I spent some time thinking of the universe and how we are all connected.... I was feeling very grateful and blessed to be able to do what I love - and feeling honored to have photographed such a special time in Alma and Bobby’s lives...

What a beautiful day of celebrating a new life....

xoxo
